Plate Waste Study

High levels of plate waste are concerning in hospitals as it contributes to malnutrition-related complications. Thus, this study aims to assess plate waste to provide knowledge about patient’s food preferences, what foods are being eaten, and why they are being thrown away.

Bananas are often served for pureed diets as they can be easily mashed with a fork. However, they turn brown quickly, which may result in individuals losing their desire to eat. Thus, this analysis aims to evaluate the potential replacement for appearance improvement.

A piece of nutrition advice will not be helpful if it is not culturally sensitive. Hence, this sheet is designed to provide exposure to Taiwanese cuisine, aiming to improve healthcare providers’ understanding of different cultures and enhance culturally appropriate counseling professionals.
